New BlueStar

New BlueStar

Postby Tom-FL » June 19th, 2012, 7:38 pm

I have the BlueStar on order for my wife. I know where to locate the Onstar box so I should be able to install without problems.

She has a 2008 Cadillac SRX with the navigation unit and XM active. The bluetooth is what she wants. She will never use the streaming audio.

Is there anything I should know when learning the operation of the unit?
Does it display caller id on the nav unit?

Thanks for the help. I always try and look knowledgeable to the wife :D

I have it installed and working. Thanks to the folks who posted the vehicle specific info.

The wife is very pleased with the operation. Her iPhone pairs as she enters the vehicle, the caller id shows on the DIC and the talking head works to answer and end calls. The sound quality is good.

I'm impressed enough that I may get one for my 07 Corvette convertible.

Any issues with the Bluestar locking up requiring you to unplug/plug back in? I just installed in my 2007 SRX, I used it yesterday for a few calls, parked the car, then upon starting the car again a few hours later it connected but pressing the phone button did nothing, placing a call I could not get it to go thru the stereo, incoming calls could only be answered by the phone. I unplugged the on star connections and reconnected and so far today it's working again. We'll see when I get back in the car later.
