08 Escalade Battery draining

08 Escalade Battery draining

Postby bulldog » January 2nd, 2013, 7:44 pm

Installed a Bluestar 2010 and ever since the battery will be drained to the point where it can't start the car after sitting for a day or 2. It is an 08 Escalade with Nav. Bought the BlueStar unit in Dec 2012 and only installed it last week.

Any ideas of how to fix it?

Hi Bulldog,
The unit is designed to go into low power mode when the vehicle RAP (retained accessory power) shuts down.
You can easily see this by looking at rear view mirror indicator. If off, it should be asleep using only a few milliamps.
If it does not go into sleep mode, please contact tech support as there is something wrong with the unit, or something else keeping the device awake.

Thx for the reply, I'm in contact with Tech Support.

Trying to locate the fuse for the unit to monitor the current draw while in sleep mode. The 2008 Escalade doesn't seem to have an INFO fuse described everywhere.

I need to double check, but it seems in certain conditions the LED in the mirror keeps blinking RED after the car is turned off with doors closed. WIll keep an eye on it.

The LED should stop blinking after a few seconds of shutting down and opening the car door.
IF it does not, and it keeps blinking RED, then the unit is NOT shutting down and going to sleep.
Please contact techsupport to see what might be keeping it alive. Sometimes, aftermarket equipment (ie alarm systems) can pulse the data bus keeping the BlueSTAR in active mode.
