Class 2, any solutions?

Class 2, any solutions?

Postby carbasher » July 20th, 2012, 5:12 pm

Getting frustrated with the lockups.

Ive tried downgradeing to the old filmware, and the new beta, but still having lockups/hangs. On my second module. Any other ideas before I rip it out and get something else?

YES! We have made what I believe is a huge breakthrough in the CLASS2 communications. Please try the attached code. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Please let us know how it works and what vehicle you have it in.

Installed in my 2004 Bonneville GXP. Initial test looks good (I have not routed the audio out yet so no A2DP test).

I've also been experiencing much of the Class 2 flakiness reported elsewhere so I am anxious to see how this beta performs over the coming week.

I'll report back later.

Things are working much better on my 2006 CTS, a lot of the " flakeyness" is gone, and I haven't had to disconnect the module to reboot. I am getting some of the connection issues with pairing other have reported but it's a small price to pay to get a working module. No talking head support or call display, but it's a vast improvement.

Thanks for the update

I wish I could report the same successes...

I initially had problems when I first installed the BlueStar unit back in February... they were never resolved (viewtopic.php?f=50&t=212). And, since I'm a Mac user, the CPU program wouldnt run on my computer. So, I finally decided it this was important enough to buy a copy of windows and partition my hard drive, and start dual booting my mac so I can run the BlueStar utility software.

The good news: All of the installs went well. The drivers work and I'm able to now upgrade/downgrade the BlueStars' firmware. I went ahead and did that last night to the most recent version that is supposed to be the end all be all for GM class 2.

The bad news: After finally thinking I was going to have a working unit, I ran out to the truck, reinstall BlueStar and decided to give it a go. Dialed a number via my phone, the onstar light switched to red, the radio muted then came right back on... the call progressed via my phone instead of the bluestar unit and when I hung up, the LED light stayed red and required a complete disconnect to turn off. So, I've gone from 50% usability to 0%. Does anyone want a reduced cost BlueStar unit? Ha!

Chris - Any help is appreciated. Like i've always said, I love the concept, but I just can't get the dang thing to work!

Thanks.

Hi Ben,
That is pretty surprising, as we have had lots of success with this latest code.
I think you should send the unit in for testing. There might be something else going on.
Please contact tech support to set up an rma.

It appears I have the same problem. I just received the unit today. I have a 2003 Silverado and an iphone 4. The Onstar unit was one of the digital ready units and I did have it upgraded by GM to digital years ago. The Bluestar pairs fine and seems to dial out. The radio speaker mutes the radio for about a second and then comes right back on. I can't hear or speak to the other party even though there's a connection. As an aside, I reprogrammed the unit with the latest version. It didn't make a difference. I did notice that when the Bluestar is connected to either my laptop or desktop it has a tendency to lose the USB connection.

Chris,

Will do. I'd love to get this thing figured out.

2003 duramax,

Yep, sounds like you have the same issue. I've downgraded to ver. 1028cfw but have yet to try it out. I'll try it tomorrow and let you know how it goes, either way, I'll be sending it back in to tech support.

I tried going back to a previous version. The radio did mute, but the mic amd speakers didn't work. Too bad, great concept.
