2007 Avalanche

2007 Avalanche

Postby redzone16 » March 29th, 2011, 11:01 am

I just bought a 2007 avalanche and heard about costar from the avalanche club forum. I'm in. a few question though, 1)Where is the onstar box located on the 07. 2) when I install the costar do I need to do any upgrades at all, or is it really pnp.

Thanks

Did you take the plunge yet? The onstar module is located behind the radio and A/C controls. Its kind of a pain in the butt to get to, but you should be able to put it in there and leave it alone.

Let me know if you need more info...

I'd highly suggest leaving a USB cable attached to the unit and hide that cable somehwere so that you can update the firmware without having to tear apart your dash again... that was a hard lesson to learn the first time. :(

Have a 2007 Av and installed bluestar 2010 with limited installation issues! Not breaking the plastic wood trim was most troublesome. Box fit good under passenger side console trim. left USB out for future but is not working correctly with my 4S iPhone. Talks to Siri ok but when phone # is dialed radio does not mute and cannot hear other party. They hear me but not other way!

Any suggestions?

I completely agree with you on this. Leaving a USB cable attached to the unit and hide that cable somehwere so that you can update the firmware without having to tear apart your dash. Tried it personally too.

Finally got the device. Works great. Just a heads up, there is a tab on either side of the Onstar device. Pull those back and out it comes.
