Skype volume very low, call volume OK

After a successful installation into a Solstice, I only have one remaining issue. Everything works perfectly except the output volume of skype calls via the Bluestar. The Bluestar is up to date with firmware - only a few weeks old and came preflashed correctly.

My iPhone 5 IOS 7 seems to treat an outbound skype call as a phone call, but the volume from the system is about 30% of that of a regular call. Bluetooth volume is maxed but the output via the Bluestar is so low you cant have a conversation with any form of background noise. Cranking the stereo volume to 100% only serves to blow my eardrums if a call comes in or I stream music.

Skype volume via the phone speaker or headset is fine. If I aux the headphone jack into the car stereo it's very loud.

Any suggestions?

Is the Skype volume low or the same level as calls when you use other Bluetooth devices?
