Class 2, any solutions?

Hi,

Update to my problem. I realize now that I think there may be a problem with the combination of the BLUESTAR and my iPhone adapter:

http://usaspec.com/product.php?ProductID=27

It is the PA15-VETTE made by USA SPEC. At times, when I plug my iPhone into the PA15-VETTE, the BLUESTAR Freezes. The BLUESTAR seems to work fine without the iPhone plugged into the iPhone device. Could this be a probem? The PA15-VETTE allows user to control iPhone functions via the head-unit, replacing one of the XM Radio Settings.

COSTAR, any experience here?

Thank you,
Barry

Hi Barry,
I have not heard of any specific issues relating to the PAC-audio units, but anything that connects to the radio could alter the communications that the bluestar expects to receive.
It is very likely that this is indeed your issue.

Mr. Costar,

The system was working fine at one point with the USA SPEC Device.

Last night I tried to load the older software into the BLUESTAR as recommended. The load failed, so I still have the most current firmware installed.

USA SPEC replaces one XM Radio Function.

Is there anything I can do to get you enough information to determine if this is truly the cause?

Thank you,
Barry

BArry,
Can you provide some details as to how the USA-SPEC device connects? Do you know if it is on the CLASS2 bus or the E&C bus?

Hi Mr. Costar,

The PA15-Vette connects directly to the XM Radio Module. It does not connect to the Onstar equipment, nor directly to the radio. So in effect, when I select XM 1 on my radio, it diverts to control my iPhone 4 and all iTunes controls are through the radio buttons. It is hard-wired connection to the PA15-Vette. I had to disconnect the XM Module and put the PA15-Vette in series with the XM Module. Here is a YouTube example of the installation. Acclerate to 6.5 minutes into YouTube to see the actual install.

Also, I tried using the Bluestar this week without connecting the phone to the PA15-Vette, and I also had the radio turned to AM Radio. The performance with Bluestar is intermittent. And many times, I can not pair. The green LED flashes, and I try to pair, yet no go.

I should have noted that at one time, the BlueStar was working flawlessly with the PA15-Vette, and then stopped working.

I still can not use down-rev software. Will not install.

Thank you,
Barry

Hi Barry,
That is a great video. The SRX is probably the hardest vehicle to access as you have to take half the car apart to get to the onstar module (and the XM module in this case).
I dont see how the USA-SPEC could interfere with the bluestar as it seems to hop inline with the XM module. It probably does reside on the CLASS2 bus, but it really should not interfere with bluestar operation.
We need to get you connected to the unit so we can see what is going on.
Please send an email to techsupport to help you troubleshoot this. I think if we can get you connected we can either downgrade the code or use the data logging function to see what is happening.

Hello,

Been a long time since I posted. I have had too much international travel, so could not finish resolving my issues. I see you have relatively new firmware for the device. Can you explain what issues this resolved? Please recall my earlier posts with the 2006 CTS-V and original radio with onboard navigation. I still can not speak well through the system. I can not hear the party on the other line through the car speakers.

Thank you,
Barry

Can I get some help here? Sorry I am intermittent, but in owning this device for over a year, I have only been able to use successfully for about 3 calls... I just tried updating the firmware. Update fails.

All my previous posts still apply.

Thanks in advance.
